Dr. C.W.W. Kannangara's greatest contribution to education was his scheme of free education and Central Schools , Wadduwa Central College is one of the fiftyfour Central schools established under his educational reforms. This school was established on 30th September in 1945. It is situated in a tranquil surrounding in the suburbs of Wadduwa in Kalutara District in the western province. This school was started as a thatched roofed hut. With the good will and the assistance of well wishers this Central College has reached to a remarkable Progress with upstair buildings , equipped with many facilities with the prcedent guidence of the former principals and the present principal this school has become the leading school in Wadduwa area. The first principal of this school was Prof. J.E. Jayasooriya. Then Mr. A.G.G. Perera, Mr. N.T.De Silva , Mr. Lionel Lokuliyana , Mr. A.P.T. De Vas, Mr. D. Samaraweera , Mr. A. Bopitiya, Mr. B. J. Silva , Mr. B. L. Fernando  Mr. K.L.Piyasena. , Mrs. G. D. C. Fonseka and Mr. S.L.D.R. Rathugama.They paid this enormous dedication to upleft the standards of the school. In 1945 this school was stared as a secondary school but in 1994 primary section was established as the appreciable additions. Mr. B.L. Fernando was the principal then. As a result of starting the primary section. 87.5% of students were qualifed for A/L in the year of 2004 Wadduwa Central College has moved forward and it has produced prominent old students. At Present Mr. S.L.D.R.Rathugama  is the Principal. Mrs. S.A.P. Rodrigo  is the Vice Principal and Mr. P.L.P.Perera ,Mr. D. Kottage, Mr. danapala and Mr. Priyantha  are the Deputy Principals. After establishing the Primary Section Wadduwa Central College now consists of three sections. Primary Section, Junior Secondary and the Upper school. Advanced Level grades conduct classes in Bio Science , Physical Science , Commerce and Arts. As government school Wadduwa Central College followas goverment educational policy. Special mention must be made of the Chief Minister of Western Province Mr. Regginold Cooray who had a keen interest in the progress of the college he endowed an acre of land to establish the primary section. We proudly mention that our school has been selected as a "Navodya School" which is a concept of Her Excellancy The President Mrs. Chandrika Bandaranayaka Kumarathunga. Our grateful thanks are for the Chief Minister pioneering this project. Under the D.S.D. project sufficient funds were received for the constrction of work. a special Education unit was established in this school. Five million has allocated for reconstruction work including two science laboratories. In addition 10 million has been given to establish a complete information Technology center. It is the latest integral in the college facilities , and sevaral new buildings have merged into the Wadduwa central College. Under the Project of developing Central Schools we alocated Rs. 25000/= to buy equipment and also money was allocated to reconstruct the office and Surroundings.
